Hooray!

1 min read
Whew, it's been a long time since I've updated my journal. I really don't think I have much to say project-wise. Gally was fantastic but now my focus is on getting my Fifth Doctor costume updated for Comic-Con in July. I'm in the middle of doing that. But since I really haven't done a photoshoot with the costume yet, I decided I should do so, even if I didn't have the ubiquitous Doctor coat and celery on.

Yay Little Endless storybook!

I'll probably upload some pix to my gallery in a bit.

Done!

After working on and off on this cosplay project for around six months or so, I've finally completed my female Doctor costume! Lucky too, since Gallifrey One is 3 weeks away at this point and I was aiming on wearing the costume then. If you're attending too, feel free to say hi if you see me!

I have a single pic of the completed costume so far, but I'm hoping to get a photoshoot done soon, if not here at home, then maybe at Gally itself. When that's done, I'm probably going to upload those finished shots to my gallery. But for now, a single pic in a single journal will have to do:

Sew, what?

I guess anyone following my dA account might have noticed that I haven't been posting any new projects in a while. The truth is that I have a lot of plush projects in mind (an Eleventh Doctor plushie most likely), but I have been waylaid by Epic Project of DOOM.

As you can probably tell by the chosen subjects of my plush projects, I am a massive Doctor Who geek. The biggest Doctor Who convention in North America, Gallifrey One, happens every Presidents' Day weekend in the LAX Marriott hotel. I attended my first one this year, and immediately grew to love the con, and especially the costumes. I saw a lot of ingenuity and creativity on display and when I returned home, I decided that I wanted in on some of that.

So I've spent the majority of this year planning out a costume based on the Fifth Doctor (who is my favorite out of the eleven incarnations of the venerable Time Lord). For those who don't know, he looks like this:

Now considering that I am a girl, I didn't want to go for a straight copy of the costume, but instead I'm aiming for a female version of the Doctor, with a skirt instead of pants and a more feminine look overall. I've sewn a skirt (the first time I've tackled a pattern) and now over holiday break I'm going to attempt sewing the coat. I do have some bits and pieces of the costume already put together. I didn't have a sweater at the time this photo was taken but that's changed since then. I'm waiting on a few more things to arrive (darn slow holiday mail delivery) before taking more photos:

I'm trying to finish the outfit before Gallifrey One 2011 (happening next February), and I'm thankfully on schedule so far. I just hope nothing bad happens over the holiday break which would severely cut into my sewing time. :paranoid:

Me and such

So I finally got a dA account because I think I might be serious about plush-making? I dunno. I'm just starting out so there's a lot I still have to learn. But I guess this is as good a place as any to chronicle things.

Yay?
